In early 2023, I was keen to put out some new music, as the whole process of recording and "producing" the digital album, 'The Road', had been a lot of fun. I also felt I was getting better at the mechanics of making songs.

In early 2023, I was keen to put out some new music, as the whole process of recording and "producing" the digital album, 'The Road', had been a lot of fun. I also felt I was getting better at the mechanics of making songs.
'Time Span' contains music from two spells of recording: the first during most of 2022 and the second, main spell during the first few months of 2023. I had already written a song called ‘Time Span’ in early 2022, during lockdown, but the original version was more electronic, ambient even; the version on 'Time Span' is more stripped back, with just piano.
The tracks on the digital album vary from piano ballads to dance and electronica, rock 'n' roll, funk, ambient, prog (as someone kindly pointed out!) and even musique concrete. All of this for me fits under the 'Time Span' umbrella (I'm mixing my metaphors, but you know what I mean!)
I also wanted to get back to having the piano as the central instrument. All tracks except one feature the piano as the main instrument, with everything else slotting in around it.
As many of you know,, I took the recording of this digital album very seriously, but hopefully not too seriously ... I had fun making it, too. I've tried to use technology to enhance rather than take over ... I hope you enjoy the tracks contained on this album .
